Project Description
A work of art infused with the drama of the Cherokee Indians displacement. The fear, anger, desperation, inhumanity, pains are depicted in all aspects of this painting. From the landscape to the expressions, all show hopelessness. The Cherokee knew a land of bounty, peacefulness and a life of joy. They were forced to take a horrendous, serious march full of agony and death, to an undesirable land to start their lives again; into the darkness.
This epic piece took several years to complete, including the research of the clothing, implements, baskets, and way of life, as well as information about the march. This piece also took a toll on the Artis, Eva Makk. She empathized with her subject and felt deeply on her journey to complete this masterpiece.
